Criminal investigation officers only wear civilian clothes and usually identify themselves by showing their "criminal badge". If necessary, however, they can also identify themselves with a badge.
Clearance rates of over 55 percent
As far as Oberhausen is concerned: in recent years, an average of less than 17,000 crimes were committed each year, ranging from "fare evasion" to manslaughter. The clearance rates averaged between 55 and 60 percent. This regularly means one of the "first places" within the state of NRW.
The criminal investigation departments (KK) are responsible for specific crimes or areas:
Crime task force (ET-K-)
The task force supports the criminal investigation departments in operational measures to combat street and property crime, in particular through observation and access measures.
Criminal Investigation Department
The Criminal Investigation Department performs the tasks for all police stations of the Crime Directorate outside normal working hours. In particular, this includes collecting and securing objective and subjective evidence in the first attack.
To this end, the K-Watch supports all departments of the Crime Directorate during normal working hours.
