In order for this to succeed, the management of the authorities continuously reviews the traffic and crime figures and analyzes the deployment situation. This allows them to react quickly and effectively to trends and developments.
Independently of this, long-term goals are ultimately also set at longer intervals and on the basis of comprehensive analyses of the security situation in Oberhausen. After all Oberhausen police officers had focused on the criminal structures in Oberhausen in recent years - be it clan crime, drug-related crime or red light/human trafficking - in close cooperation with other police authorities, the city, the tax investigation department and many other stakeholders to prevent criminal networks in Oberhausen from consolidating and expanding, the current evaluation (2023) did not reveal any dramatic focus that the security and regulatory authorities urgently needed to address.

But: There is one problem child and that is crimes against senior citizens.
We keep reporting on the various scams perpetrated by unscrupulous criminal gangs that specifically target elderly victims. Fake police officers, the waterworks trick or shock calls. The criminals use all channels, but also all developments and trends, such as the fear of Covid-19, to rob senior citizens of their savings.
The damage is not just financial, however - after such a day, people are often left highly traumatized and lose their courage to face life. That is why we in Oberhausen will fight this area of crime with all our strength as a priority for the authorities.
As in the years 2013 to 2019, when all directorates worked together to successfully combat domestic burglars, we will once again all pull together to stop the perpetrators and protect the older generation.
This fight will not be an easy undertaking and will only succeed if all children and grandchildren inform their parents and grandparents about the lurking dangers.
